Postponed Family Frog Festival and Parent Teacher Conferences
The third grade Family Frog Festival that we planned to have this Friday, February 23rd, has been postponed, but we will have a festival in May after we are done with our Peter Pan unit. As that date nears, we will send out more information. Thank you for your understanding!
I will be sending out a second Parent-Teacher Conference signup link within the next couple of weeks if you would like to schedule a time to meet to discuss your child’s progress since our last meeting. Please continue checking Dojo and our class website for that upcoming information.

Welcome Letter
Welcome to third grade! I am very excited to be working with you and your child this year at Washington GT Elementary School. This is going to be an exciting year in which your child will be involved in many exciting hands-on and minds-on learning experiences. I will be working with other third grade teachers and specialists around the school to develop activities that challenge each student and meet their individual needs and goals.
I am committed to providing your child with a safe and loving environment, giving your child opportunities to make choices, but also give them the proper structure and boundaries to make the right choices that will help them grow academically and socially.
This class website is used to communicate all the wonderful things we do. It is always under progress, but I welcome your comments. On this site, you will find tons of information including daily homework assignments, important announcements/dates, upcoming tests/quizzes, helpful links, projects, and much more. Please be sure to check the site frequently to stay informed about what your child is learning in class and any other pertinent information.
I believe that the best way for your child to succeed is our partnership. I look forward to getting to know you, your child, and any other information that will make this the best year ever.
I look forward to meeting you at the Meet the Teacher event on Thursday, August 24 from 4:30-6:00 pm. We are in room 317!!
Please feel free to contact me by email, [email protected]. I check email several times throughout the day.
It’s going to be a fabulous year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Akisha Bailey-Martin
Class Dojo
Class Dojo is a communication tool that Washington will be using to help build your student’s learning habits, boost classroom engagement, and keep you connected with what’s going on in the classroom. This tool allows me to track student behavior and learning skills throughout the day as well! One of the other great features of ClassDojo is that it allows me to send you reports and share work samples with you by email or through the Class Dojo app. Please refer to the Class Dojo parent letter included in the Monday Folder if you did not create an account at “Meet the Teacher” night. My hope is that this will bring you and me closer together and help you better understand the progress of your student on a week to week basis.
Thanks so much for your amazing support, and as always, please let me know if you have any questions.
